斗士归来

　　只是一场意外，却又超乎意外。驾车撞死一条狗，男子与妻女来到陌生车房。凭其义肢走动时的声响，车房工认出司机或是当年施酷刑的狱吏。仇人送上门，雪恨更待何时。然而，狱中受折磨时双眼被蒙，嫌疑犯是行刑者确实无误？从早到晚奔波一轮，找来几个狱友确认俘虏身份，痛苦回忆涌上心头。在无 垠沙漠等待把他活埋私了，有若在人性荒原等待果陀，替天行道又是否问心无愧？以悬疑惊栗布局，暗黑写实的人物故事来自巴纳希狱中亲见亲闻，将苛政、滥权、以暴易暴一一置于道德伦理的天秤上，丈量人性轻重；悲愤中不失幽默，连消带打贪污贿赂之风。一面金棕榈奖，绝非意外。

　　The film tells the story of Martha Hoffman, an eccentric and wealthy patron who is committed to a psychiatric clinic by her daughters. The expert witness Casares investigates whether this is a scheme to control their mother’s fortune or if Martha truly suffers from a form of dementia that endangers her well-being and that of her family.

 A man in solitary confinement for seven years comes out into a world of self-isolation.

　　老来相作伴的闺密去世后，老龄94岁的埃兰诺怀抱对挚友的思念，搬回纽约和女儿同住，但牙尖嘴利的她没几天就把母女关系搞僵，还直接被丢包到犹太社区中心上音乐课。一个不经意的瞒天大谎，让她误打误撞与新闻系学生妮娜成为忘年之交，在这座沟通匮乏的城市里，共享和抚慰彼此的拥有与失落。但随着谎言越滚越大，两人的友谊也岌岌可危⋯⋯

　　Five women are running an old hotel and trying to save it from inexorable decay. Guests arrive over the course of a weekend: a couple bears the wounds of a long-term misunderstanding; a domineering mother interferes in her daughter’s relationship; two girls try to save their own love story in the face of opposition from a possessive mother. Viver Mal is the reverse shot of Mal Viver, which is screening in the Competition: here, João Canijo reveals everything that was floating in the depth of field in this film’s mirror image. Reality becomes the intertwining and multiplication of different points of view; the intersection between what can be seen and what the eye misses. Like a play of light reflections, Viver Mal is Mal Viver in another dimension. The image is distorted, but at the same time seeks a new definition by relaunching itself into infinity.

 The film opens in a bleak police station where celebrated war correspondent Kate Rafter (Seagrove) faces questions from a psychiatrist, Dr Shaw (Kurylenko), as they work through the painful events of Rafter’s life. A horrific incident in war-torn Iraq and the death of her mother (Steed) have brought a haunted Rafter home to Herne Bay, a place she believed she had escaped forever. Her resentful sister (Friel) has not made her sister welcome and her forbearing husband Paul (Miles) fails to broker peace. Whilst packing up her mother’s belongings from her childhood home, Rafter comes to believe there is something strange and terrifying happening in the house next door.
